Illinois, USA 8-21/10/15

A second visit to our friends in Roscoe, Illinois primarily for their Granddaughters wedding. There were not as many birds around as there were in April and many of the commoner species, Cardinals and Goldfinches, were absent.

Downy Woodpecker (9230)

A very small woodpecker, similar in size to our Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. A regular visitor to the feeders.

Mourning Dove (9318)

Very similar to our Collared Dove but slightly smaller.

Bald Eagle (9352)

Seen daily along the river

Black-capped Chickadee (9390)

Daily visitors to the feeders, similar to our Coal Tit

Killdeer (9404)

A very distant record shot, similar to our Ringed Plover

Another regular on the feeders

American Robin (9417)

Very different to our Robin,the size of our Blackbird. This is a male bird, still in summer plumage.

Tufted Titmouse (9427)

i saw this bird just once on each of our visits but this time I managed to get a photo. Very small and very fast!
